Welcome to our Late Summer e-news

Summer term is almost over and it will soon be time to kick back and enjoy the holidays, but before then, see below for exciting news about funding, updates on events and key dates for your diaries.

Exciting new partnership with Virgin Management!
Virgin logoWe are delighted to announce that Small Steps has been selected as Virgin Managements Local Charity Partner 2010!!!  The staff at Virgin Management will be taking on various fundraising initiatives over the coming year for Small Steps, with the highlight being a team of runners taking on the Virgin London Marathon on 17th April 2011!  Anita has been invited to present at the official launch of this partnership, which will take place at Virgin Management, Brook Green, London, in September. Three cheers for Virgin Management!

Mulsanne Partnership takes on the 3 Peaks Challenge

The Mulsanne Partnership is a dynamic, young search firm based in the City of London, working for financial services clients.  Twelve optimists (some might say masochists) will attempt to climb the three highest mountains in the United Kingdom (Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell in England and Snowdon in Wales) within 24 hours in aid of Small Steps. Many have tried and failed before, but these brave lads and lasses are undaunted and set off on their quest early on 21st July to begin their challenge at 9am on 23rd July.  Please show your support for
Adam Saunders, Andrew Hall, Hazel Dowd, Henry Spence, Richard Pallister, David Hall, Jim Brownwood, Damien Patel, Mat Hull, Simon Bragg, Anthony Barry, Stephen Faulkes (unless his injury plays up) & reserves Alex Willcoks & Ross Jones by sponsoring their mission at Just Giving (http://www.justgiving.com/mulsannepartnership).

Subsequent to Mulsanne Partnership finding out about the charity and planning this venture, 22 of the 26 employees have been to visit Small Steps.  They have observed some of the sessions, met some of the children, parents, staff and trustees … and consequently they too have selected Small Steps as their Charity of the Year. Three Cheers for the Mulsanne Partnership (www.mulsannepartnership.com) we’ve really enjoyed your interest and support so far!

Goodbye Kate!
Kate
We are sad to announce that Kate Brumfield our Assistant Head of Service will be leaving Small Steps at the end of this term. Kate is moving back to her homeland of Australia (via Ghana!). During her time at Small Steps Kate has had a key role in developing and enhancing the Service and making Small Steps what it is today. We'd all like to wish Kate the very best of luck for her future. We will truly miss her!

Tanfield Chambers

Anita was invited to give a presentation to these very well renowned chambers in Chancery Lane.  Tanfield too has “adopted” Small Steps as their charity for the coming year.  One of its members is David Sharp, Ben’s Dad, who used to attend Small Steps.  Tanfield will endeavour to pursue various fundraising activities on our behalf www.tanfieldchambers.co.uk. Three cheers for Tanfield Chambers!
